April 2008 -  How's it all going? We had a great time in Canberra, saw some great performances and had some good jams. The master class with Mike Compton was great. We invested in a woodskin drum while we were down there which we've used once at the last Bangalow gig. It has a bass drum and snare drum sound which can be operated with the feet so it's perfect for us. At the last Wadeville gig Billy came along and he had had a problem with one of the cds he had purchased. If anybody else has a problem with their cds let us know and we can send a replacement. The piece of music this month is another little groove we sometimes jam on in the Monday night guitar class.

Till next month. Cheers Bill.

P.s    A Big Thank you to Lenny Howden for the dvd he made for us at Wadeville .

==================

P.S. When we are busking & at Gigs, lots of people have made videos and taken pictures with cameras and mobile phones of us while we are playing. If you are one of those people we 'd love to have a look so please email us. Cheers,

Thrillbilly Stomp.

March 2008 - This month we're off to the National Folk Festival in Canberra. We
have a couple of gigs locally before we go (check the Gig Guide ).
The Slipway gig is now starting at 8.00 pm and goes to 11.00 pm, no
longer the old 6.30 start.

On the Tab & SheetMusic Page this month is a simple three part
groove in E major for Guitar. Hope you enjoy. Till next month Cheers. Bill.

February 2008 - This month we have another traditional tune on the sheet music page called "Cripple Creek". It's a nice little finger picking guitar arrangement with alternating bass line. For all the people who were at the Slipway on the 18th of January we now have the photos up on the Stompers Gallery page. You look like one of the happiest groups of people I've ever seen. Feel free to drop us a line if you've got any questions about playing the tunes or whatever. Till next month Cheers. Bill.

December 2007 - December ended on a good note with a trip up to the Woodford Folk Festival to play with the Blues Skillet Rovers. The power blew up halfway through the first gig but the Rovers being an acoustic act just jumped down on the dancefloor and we finished the gig there. It was a real hoot.   Highlight for us at Woodford was the Greencards joined by Rod Macormack. What a band. The mandolin playing of Kym Warner blew us away.    In March We're headed down to Canberra for the National Folk Festival where I'll be attending some Mandolin Master Classes with Mike Compton, mandolinist on the "Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack and "Down from the Mountain" concert dvd. Looking forward to it. Till next month cheers Bill

9th July  - We went busking on the weekend. Thank you to all the people who gave us money and bought the CD. Busking gives you a good chance to pick up the vibe in different towns. Byron has more of a city vibe these days. Homeless people and the rich living side by side. Call a place paradise and it's lost. The other town still has that magic.

Caught up with some old friends and went to the pub and saw 8 Ball Aitken. Nice Yellow Suites. Our Next Gig happens to be in Byron at the Rails in August (see Gig Page for Venue & time details). Keith our rhythmatist will be back from Japan and Julian will on Double Bass & Flute.

3rd   March  - Making first demo recording at Rainbow Recording Studio, Rosebank 5th and 6th March. The players on the recording are Bill Bradney on Mandolin, Guitar and vocals, Liz Edwards Accordion and vocals, George Urbaszek on Bass and Pete Wilkins on Drums. Hopefully we will get 5 songs down: Pearl,   Life Goes On,  Over The Horizon,  Catch Me If You Can and  Sweet Country Joy.

Luke Collins will be playing drums at the Nimbin gig on the 23rd of April, which we are looking forward to, as Luke is a fine drummer. Pete has to head down to Melbourne to do some work with ‘Fatter Than NusFrat’ at this time and we wish him the best of luck.

Haven’t done any busking for a few weeks as we’ve been too busy but we’re looking forward to getting out on the street again soon. Its one of our favorite environments to play in, Saturday morning in Bangalow.

Gig at Casino on April fool’s day should be fun. Look forward to making some new friends in the beef capital.

By the way George is giving online bass lessons. You can contact him at www.creativebass.com George is a great musician with a wealth of experience from Orchestras to Funk and everything in
between and his lessons and ideas are well worth checking out.

Jan 2007 - 2006 was a good year. We did a few gigs, sold a few CDs and met heaps of great people. The award for the best gig of 2006 goes to the Bangalow Hotel on the 9 th of September. An enthusiastic crowd had the place  jumping. A spontanoeous choir was formed and it was great to hear a pub full of people singing at the top of their lungs. Bill ( principal dancer of the Tintenbar Ballet Company ) did his first public performance of the "thrillbilly stomp dance" to rapturous applause. Also last year we received some airplay for our cd and sold quite a few while busking and performing.
This year we hope to make some more cds focussing on different elements of our repetoire. Thanks to all of you who have supported us, we look forward to seeing ya all again soon.
